A Flare for Celebration

Welcome back true-believers. My blog-sense was tingling so I figured I better type some. Aw where were you for the Fourth? I was right where I shoulda been!

Every year, it is the official duty of residents around Chautauqua Lake to stick a bunch of road flares in the ground at 10 pm July Fourth. It's pretty damn cool. Who knows why? I will have to check into this custom. The result it a strange spotty red ring around the lake. The light from these flares is a little creepy. I like it.

It makes you feel a little like you are in the waiting room for hell, and honestly, isn't that the truth for some of us?

Flares? I think it's a secret way to bring back Johnny Cash from the dead.

Oh FLARES. I thought you meant those groovy bell bottoms from the 70's. My bad.

LOL - funny custom but I'm sure it must quite interesting to see, for lack of a better word than "interesting"...
